Who we are
Marrowbone is a dog nutrition and wellbeing app. We help dog owners understand what their dog eats, track nutritional balance, and support their health and wellbeing. What information we collect
When you create an account and use Marrowbone, we collect:
Your email address, used to create and access your account.
Dog profiles you create, including name, breed, date of birth, weight, life stage, feeding goal, and allergy notes.
Meal logs you enter, including ingredients and gram weights.
Weight logs and activity records you add for your dogs.
Feedback and support messages you submit through the app.
Basic usage information to help us improve the service (e.g. which features are used most).
Technical and security information generated when you use the app, such as error information, request metadata, and service diagnostics.
How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
Provide and operate the Marrowbone service.
Calculate nutritional estimates and feeding guidance personalised to your dog’s profile.
Respond to feedback and support requests.
Improve the service and introduce new features based on how it is used.
We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not build advertising profiles.
Data storage and security
Your data is stored securely using Supabase, a cloud database provider. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We take reasonable steps to protect your information, but no system is completely secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Our infrastructure provider may temporarily process technical and security logs to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the app. Under our current hosting configuration, these logs are retained for up to 7 days.
Sharing your information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share data with trusted service providers who help us operate the app, such as our cloud infrastructure provider, under strict confidentiality agreements. We may disclose information if required to do so by law.
Data retention and deletion
We retain your data for as long as you have an active account. You can delete your account from within the app, which removes your account and associated data from our active production systems. Encrypted disaster-recovery backups may retain copies of data for up to 7 days before they are overwritten in the normal backup cycle. Backup copies are used only for disaster recovery and are not used for ordinary app operations. Technical and security logs are retained for up to 7 days under our current hosting configuration.
Subscriptions and Purchase Information
Marrowbone offers optional paid features through Marrowbone Plus.
When you purchase or use a Marrowbone Plus subscription through the iOS app, payment is processed by Apple through the App Store. Marrowbone Technologies Ltd does not receive or store your full payment-card details.
We receive and process limited information relating to your subscription so that we can determine whether you are entitled to access Marrowbone Plus. This may include information such as subscription status, product or subscription type, purchase and renewal information, transaction identifiers and identifiers associated with your Marrowbone account.
We use RevenueCat to help manage subscription status and entitlements within Marrowbone. Information necessary to associate a subscription with your Marrowbone account may therefore be processed by RevenueCat in connection with providing this service.
We use this information to:
provide and maintain access to Marrowbone Plus;
verify subscription entitlements;
restore eligible purchases;
respond to subscription or access issues;
understand and maintain the operation of our subscription service; and
prevent misuse or unauthorised access to paid features.
Apple remains responsible for processing App Store payments and associated payment information in accordance with Apple’s own privacy practices.
Marrowbone Plus Features
Some Marrowbone Plus features use information you have recorded about your dog to provide additional analysis, organisation or sharing functionality.
Personalised insights and analysis
Features such as Personalised Insights, Nutrition Intelligence, Health Insights and My Dog Over Time may analyse records associated with your dog, including feeding, nutrition, weight, body condition, activity and health or wellbeing records, to identify supported patterns and changes over time.
These features are intended to help you understand and organise the information you have recorded. They do not provide veterinary diagnosis or replace professional veterinary advice.
Body Condition Scanner
If you choose to use the Body Condition Scanner, photographs you provide are processed for the purpose of estimating your dog’s Body Condition Score.
Photographs submitted for an assessment are not retained as part of your dog’s stored Marrowbone record. If you choose to accept and save an assessment, information relating to the assessment, including the estimated Body Condition Score, may be stored in your dog’s Weight & Body Condition history.
Body Condition Scanner results are estimates and should be considered alongside hands-on assessment and, where appropriate, professional veterinary advice.
Reports
If you create a vet or nutrition report, Marrowbone uses relevant information from your dog’s records to organise that report.
You control whether you choose to export or share a report with another person. Once information is shared outside Marrowbone, its subsequent handling may be outside our control.
Care-team sharing
If you invite another person to help care for a dog through Marrowbone, information associated with that dog may be made available to the invited person according to the access you grant.
Invited caregivers may also be permitted to add information to the dog’s record where you have granted that level of access.
You are responsible for choosing whom you invite and for ensuring that you are comfortable sharing the relevant dog’s information with them. You can manage care-team access within Marrowbone.
Routines and reminders
If you create routines, supplement schedules or reminders, we store the information required to provide those features. If you enable notifications, your device notification permissions are used to deliver reminders in accordance with your settings.
Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
Access the personal data we hold about you.
Request correction of inaccurate data.
Request deletion of your data.
Object to or restrict certain processing.

Children
Marrowbone is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify you within the app. Continued use of Marrowbone after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
